Actually About Me:

I’m 30 years old. Live in Indiana (have my whole life). I’m a dad—got two kids, a boy and a girl. Being a dad is easily the highlight of my life. I’m a husband to an amazing, beautiful, lovely wife. Trust me when I say: I married up. Like, it shouldn’t be allowed how much I married up.

I’ve been writing my entire life, pretty much. The first story I can ever remember writing was the tale of an epic battle between the army of Austin Powers and the army of Dr. Evil.

I was in second grade at Catholic school. All of my friends were talking about Austin Powers (I was a 90s child) and I’d never seen the movie, cause I was in 2nd grade and my parents had deemed the film “not appropriate.” So I had nothing to contribute to these conversations about this hilarious film. What may have been the greatest film ever made—everyone was talking about it like it was…

Maybe that was my first inclination to write: I could not see the story, so I shall make one up myself.

I was also into The Hobbit. The animated version of it that existed at the time was deemed “appropriate” so I had devoured that. And I had it in my mind that if Austin Powers was as good as all of my friends were saying, then surely it must’ve included and epic battle scene. I couldn’t see it. So I wrote it. And I used a piece of poster board, cause I knew it would be a long story, and a single piece of paper would simply not be big enough to contain it.

I do not know the whereabouts of this story today. But I vividly remember bringing it into class and my 2nd grade teacher reading it in front of the entire class.

And yeah… I’ve basically been writing ever since. My stories are a bit more fucked up these days. But it’s basically the same rush. I love writing. I love telling the stories that are in my head. That’s no different than any other writer.

Why (mostly) horror? Cause I’ve had anxiety since I was a little kid too. Anxiety as a mental disorder sucks ass, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. But the plus side: I’m never at a loss for things to be afraid of. As a horror writer, that’s like finding a gold mine that never runs dry.

So, thank you mental illness. You’re gonna make me rich some day.
